The automatic flange couplings are primarily developed, designed and produced for commercial vehicles (transportation, road construction, forestry, municipal operations) as well as for tractors and telescopic handlers that have to withstand extreme loads.
HSM distinguishes between three basic versions or types:
TYPE 2140 SK:
This version presents the basic version or basic coupling of the automatic flange couplings from HSM. It has a large coupling jaw and a safety check pin (SK), which indicates that the coupling pin is properly engaged. It also serves as a safeguard against unintentional opening.
The clutch pins have a diameter of either 31 mm (standard) or 38 mm (comfort pin). The larger 38 mm comfort pin with belly arch offers greater comfort and therefore better riding characteristics, as the tolerance between the eyelet and the coupling pin is reduced.
TYPE 2140 SKF:
The SKF version has a safety control pin and a remote control which, in addition to automatic coupling, also offers a simple and safe option for uncoupling without getting out. Based on the so-called release lever technology, the bolt is opened from the cab using a Bowden cable. The driver does not have to get out to open the bolt and is therefore not in the danger zone. Remote operation therefore helps to save time and increase safety.
The coupling type 2140 is offered in the flange version as standard with three hole patterns:
120x55mm, 140x80mm and 160x100mm
The clutch type 2140 SK or SKF is HSM’s bestseller. With a maximum load of 50 – 90 kN (D value) and a drawbar load of 1,500 – 2,500 kg (S value), this type of coupling is responsible for heavy trailer systems and components.
It is compatible with drawbar eyes in accordance with:

TYPE 2025 SK:
The Type 2025 is smaller and a lighter version of the Type 2140. Type 2025 has a maximum load of 41 kN (D value) and a drawbar load of 250 kg (S value) and is therefore suitable for smaller and lighter trailer systems or trailer components. The 2025 coupling type is used, for example, in the following applications for tractors in ground handling at airports (i.e. internal plant traffic). The hole pattern of type 2025 is 120 x 55 mm. However, this clutch is fitted with a 25 mm bolt as standard. It also has a safety control pin (SK) and is compatible with drawbar eye 40 to DIN 74054 and DIN 8454.
